Inspiring life stories and portraits captured by photojournalist Rafael Perez Anrango honoring Imbabura's indigenous

Kichwa runa elders.

Opening Reception on Sunday, October 13th, 2-4 p.m. Light refreshments will be served.  All are welcome to attend.

Before the reception in the gallery, there will be a special event held in the Budarz Theater.

Join us in the Budarz Theater to open the new exhibit “Imbabura Taytamamakuna Kawsay” and celebrating the cultural expressions of local Kichwa artists.

 

In Addition to the photo exhibit, there will be a workshop on weaving:

Weaving the Future: Community Workshop on Kichwa Textile Traditions

Thursday, October 3rd, 6 - 8:30 p.m. 2nd floor Conference Room

In the Andes, textile traditions are an invaluable repository of knowledge, philosophy, and ancestral guidance transmitted from generation to generation. Locally, cultural bearers of the Kichwa Ecuadorian migrant community maintain the legacy of hand-spinning, natural dyeing, and weaving.

Please attend the reception and you can participate in a "small riverscape activity" conducted by the artist herself
